Before beginning any website project, the main question you need to answer is “Why do you want to build this website?” The answer can very – your boss wants you to create a site or you want to make your web identity, or you are looking to promote your home based business. By answering the question, you can figure out the best structure for the site you are building. For example, if you are making a website for your home-based business, you will want your products and services to be listed well on pages, you will also look to have the contact information on every page.

This section follows some questions you should answer when planning your website’s structure. You should try to answer as many of them as possible because it will help you make important decisions later on about your site. Just reading the questions and thinking about answers will not do: make notes and develop a formal plan. This plan normally includes the website’s goal, rough plans for the pages, and an estimated timeline of when you plan to complete the work.

Type of Site

As we all know, there so many websites on the Internet that it is impossible to keep track of them all. We use websites to book plane reservations, chat with friends, and catch up on the scores of last night’s IPL game. When you’re thinking about why you are creating a website. You also need to figure out what kind of site it will be. The best way to familiarize you with types of websites is to look around the web.
New types of websites show up every day and are limited only by the imagination of the people involved in creating them. If your website fits into one of the listed high-level structure and design of each website.

  1. Informational: The internet is a store of mass information. Whatever info you are looking at, just enter it and get websites related with information. Some sites are there only to give you free information. So much information is added daily that you can never keep up on it all. Example

Learning From Sites
For better options, you might need to try a new way to see the websites for their structure rather than just content.

  1. Open your browser and look in your web history. In Firefox on Internet Explorer, use Ctrl+Shift+H.
  2. Open the last few sites you have visited.
  3. As you go through each site, ask some questions to yourself:
What type of website is this?
How do you navigate between pages?
Is this website a complete site and distinct from other sites on the internet?

If you find a bad website, find out what makes it bad and don’t make those mistakes. You can make a structure of website on a paper.
