There are some general rules, or best practices (not law), for organizing a website that you should keep in mind as you organize your site.

1. Keeping it Simple:
When beginning the planning for your website, keep things as simple as possible. Try not to make your website too complicated right away. You can always add things later. A simple website allows your message to be clearly understood and your goals easily attained. See below figure of simple and well organized website. (www.flickr.com).

2. Keep it Consistent:
Try to keep your website unified. This makes it look more professional. A website filled with inconsistent pages drives visitors away. Use consistent structures on pages (such as headers and footers) so that your visitors can easily know what your website is about and not get lost in a mass of unorganized text, pages and links.

3. Keep Your Website Easy to Maintain:
Well –organized, simple and well designed websites are easy to maintain. If your site is not organized well, it causes you more work in the long run. Starting simple and trying to maintain that simplicity can be helpful in the long run.

So, after having an overview of website making plan, in the next chapter, we will start with designing of the website.
